Herbs: Aloe vera, Mint • Goals: Digestion

Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons fresh aloe vera gel (clear inner fillet only)
- 10 fresh mint or peppermint leaves
- 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice (optional, for a citrusy lift)
- 1 teaspoon raw honey (optional, to sweeten)
- 2 cups filtered water
Equipment
- Kettle or small saucepan
- Teacup or heatproof mug
- Fine mesh strainer
- Spoon or small whisk
- Sharp knife and cutting board
Instructions
- Extract aloe gel:
Slice open a fresh aloe vera leaf. Scoop out 2 tablespoons of the clear inner gel. Avoid the yellow latex layer, which can irritate digestion. - Boil water:
Bring 2 cups of water to a boil. Once boiling, remove from heat and let it cool for 1–2 minutes so it doesn’t degrade the aloe’s properties. - Infuse herbs:
Add mint or peppermint leaves to a teacup or small teapot. Pour the hot (but not boiling) water over the leaves. Steep for 5–7 minutes. - Mix aloe and lemon:
In your serving mug, stir together the aloe vera gel and lemon juice until smooth. - Combine & strain:
Strain the mint infusion into the mug with the aloe mixture. Add honey if desired. Stir well and sip slowly, warm or over ice.
Tips & Variations
- Mint or Peppermint?
- Mint (spearmint) creates a milder, sweeter tea with a light cooling effect—ideal for gentle digestion.
- Peppermint delivers a stronger, menthol-rich brew that helps relieve gas, bloating, or nausea more effectively.
- For balance, try a blend of both!
- Start small with aloe: If new to aloe vera, begin with 1 tablespoon and increase gradually.
- Chill it: Let the tea cool and serve over ice for a hydrating summer detox.
- Enhance the blend: Add a few slices of fresh ginger or a pinch of fennel seed for extra digestive support.
